A proud moment unfolded at the Silverstone Circuit in London as actor and racing driver Ajith Kumar’s Ajith RedAnt by Virage team secured third place in the LMP3 Pro/Am category at the Michelin Le Mans Cup round.
The result comes amid huge attention surrounding the event, with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay attending the race and ceremonially flagging off the competition.
Ajith’s Team Finishes on the Podium
Ajith Kumar and his teammate Romain Vozniak competed in the No. 16 Ajith RedAnt by Virage car in the LMP3 Pro/Am category.
The team faced a difficult race after initially running strongly and even moving as high as third overall before an incident affected their progress. After the car was repaired, the team continued the race and eventually finished 38th overall.
However, the result in their category was much more significant: Ajith’s team finished third in LMP3 Pro/Am, earning a podium position.
“Congratulations, Friend” – Vijay’s Message
The achievement has also created a special moment between Vijay and Ajith.
Vijay was present at Silverstone as the special guest for the Le Mans Cup round and officially waved the green flag to start the race. Ajith had earlier thanked Vijay for taking time from his official schedule to attend the event.
The warm interaction between the two stars has attracted enormous attention among Tamil cinema fans, with their reunion becoming one of the biggest talking points surrounding the Silverstone event.
From Cinema Rivals to a Sporting Celebration
For years, Vijay and Ajith have been at the centre of one of Tamil cinema’s most famous fan rivalries.
At Silverstone, however, the focus was different.
Vijay appeared in his role as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and supported Indian motorsport, while Ajith was on the track pursuing his passion for racing.
The sight of Vijay cheering for Ajith and the latter’s team securing a podium finish created a memorable moment for fans of both actors.
Why the LMP3 Pro/Am Result Matters
Ajith is competing in the LMP3 Pro/Am category with Ajith RedAnt by Virage. The official Le Mans Cup profile lists the team as car No. 16, with Ajith Kumar classified as a Bronze driver.
The Silverstone result gives the team valuable points and adds another notable chapter to Ajith’s motorsport career.
The Le Mans Cup season will continue with the final round in Portimão, Portugal, later in the year.
A Proud Moment for Tamil Fans
The Silverstone weekend brought together three different worlds — Tamil cinema, motorsport and Tamil Nadu politics.
Ajith’s podium finish in the LMP3 Pro/Am category and Vijay’s presence at the circuit turned the event into a major talking point among Tamil fans worldwide.
Ajith on the podium. Vijay cheering from the sidelines. And a “Congratulations, friend” moment that fans will remember.
