Heavy and continuous rainfall across parts of Tamil Nadu has led authorities to declare school holidays in select regions as a safety precaution. Following intense monsoon downpours, the District Collector of Dindigul announced that all government and private schools in the district will remain closed on Monday, October 26, 2026.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall alerts across several central and southern districts, including Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram. While Dindigul has officially notified a holiday for schools, district collectors in other high-alert zones are actively reviewing ground conditions, reservoir inflows, and overnight rainfall totals before deciding on further closures. Parents and students are advised to rely strictly on official notifications issued by their local district administrations for morning updates.
